Celebrating 31 Years!!!

Today is John and my 31st anniversary!!! It's hard to believe we are that old :) He sent flowers to me at work today. What a wonderful surprise!!!

We've had lots of ups, downs and major trying times. We've had lots of laughter, tears, fears and concerns. Through it all, and by God's grace, we are still together. We've raised two daughters and now are enjoying two beautiful grandchildren.

Thank you Babes for putting up with me all these years! You have been loving, patient, forgiving, kind, and generous. I've not been easy a lot of the time. We still have work to do but as long as God is the center of our marriage, we can conquer anything. I love you!!!

Block One Finished!

I decided that I would join in on the Raggedy & Friends BOM Quilt. At first I thought, "Are you crazy?!?" but, I need to do something different and quiet and relaxing and for ME! I just finished Block One (which is a day after Block Two was released) and I think it is just tooooo cute!

Kaaren at The Painted Quilt is the designer and the host of the BOM. She is one talented lady! You can still sign up just by clicking on the button on the right sidebar.

What To Do With All That Zucchini???

How about making a Zucchini Cake? That's what I did this morning at 2 am!!! Couldn't sleep so I figured I may as well use my time wisely and make a cake. Thought I'd share the recipe with all of you. I think I've made this cake a hundred times and it comes out perfect every time. It is delish!!!

Zucchini Cake
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 cups oil
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 cups grated zucchini (can also substitute carrots)
1 tsp vanilla extract
  • In a medium bowl, sift together dry ingredients. Set aside.
  • Combine oil and sugar in large mixing bowl. Beat thoroughly with an electric mixer. Add eggs one at a time, beat well after each addition.
  • Add sifted dry ingredients to egg mixture and beat thoroughly. Add remaining ingredients.
  • Spread batter evenly into well greased and floured 9" x 13" pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour or until cake tests done. Cool in pan for 5-10 minutes. Turn onto cake rack.  Cool completely. Dust with confectioners sugar, if desired. (Actually I just leave mine right in the 9 x 13 and when ready to serve I cut each individual piece and dust with sugar.)

Not Looking Forward...

...to this day, maybe week even, at all. It has nothing going for it - it's Monday, extra tired today (weird dreams???), not feeling the greatest, anticipating working with phones ringing off the hook, people cursing me out, not able to catch up on the catching up from last week in order to start this weeks work, and on and on.

But the good news is, and this is a great way to start my day, I won the cutest Bag Holder from Samantha at Samantha's Accessories. Samantha is just starting out with a new blog and a sewing business. Stop over and visit by clicking on the photo above, look at some of her great new items and sign up to follow.

Thank you Samantha!!! Looking forward to a visit from the Postman ;0)
