Country Apple Fritter Bread

Country Apple Fritter Bread

This wonderful, sweet, crunchy, delicious Country Apple Fritter Bread is out of this world!!! Thanks to Kim at The Baking Chocolatetess for sharing her recipe. You can click on her photo above for the full recipe and to get inspired to be in the kitchen.

Whenever I cook or bake, I try to be as efficient as possible. The first thing I do is read the recipe through to familiarize myself with the process as well as make sure I have all the ingredients on hand. I know this is a no-brainer to most of you, but I've found myself on more than one occasion excited to try a new recipe only to get started and realize I didn't have everything I needed.

After reading through the recipe, I pull all the ingredients and begin to measure and mix what I need. This way, when I'm ready to move on to the next step, I don't have to scramble to get what I need, it's all right there at my fingertips.

Below are the steps I've taken to create Kim's wonderful bread.

All ingredients are measured, mixed and/or sorted and separated as needed.

Butter and sugar creamed together. Eggs added one at a time and then in goes the vanilla.

Once that is all mixed together, add flour mixture. Then in goes the milk to make a nice, thick batter.

Layer half of your batter into your prepared loaf pan. Top with half of your apple mixture. Then top with half of your cinnamon/sugar mixture.

Repeat wth remaining apples and cinnamon/sugar, pressing lightly into the batter.

Bake in a preheated, 350 degree oven for approximately 50-60 minutes or until done. Allow to cool, remove from pan. Drizzle with icing glaze if desired.

We couldn't wait for the bread to cool completely. We enjoyed a piece warm. This bread is really quite delicious. It is sweet, cinnamony and has a nice crunchy top.

For the complete recipe, click on the photo at the top of this post. Enjoy!!!!

Free Pattern - Blossom Bag

For the past year or two, I've stopped carrying a purse and use a wristlet which holds my phone, credit cards, cash and license. The problem with the wristlet is not having a place for my keys, so I'm holding them in my hand which is really not convenient nor comfortable.

I came across this free pattern for Amy Butler's Blossom Bag. I think I found a new love and reason to go back to carrying a purse. Now to choose the perfect fabric!

Seed Savers Exchange

It's not too early to start thinking about your vegetable garden. If you are looking for seeds that are heirloom rather than hybrid, Seed Savers Exchange is the place to go. Seed Savers Exchange is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to saving and sharing heirloom seeds. They are one of the largest seed banks in the North America, housing thousands of seeds with the goal to provide untreated, non GMO, heirloom seeds.

My seed order arrived yesterday and I started planning my garden today. Great diversion with all this cold temperatures we've been having! To order your own catalog, click on the photo above.

Free Pattern - Amigurumi Bunny

Have you tried your hand at Amigurumi? I have but didn't know what Amigurumi meant until yesterday when I looked it up. According to Wikipedia:

Amigurumi (編みぐるみ?, lit. crocheted or knitted stuffed toy)is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. The word is derived from a combination of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll.[1]Amigurumi are typically animals, but can include artistic renderings or inanimate objects endowed with anthropomorphic features,[2] as is typical in Japanese culture..The pervading aesthetic of amigurumi is cuteness.

Cuteness!!! That's exactly how I would describe these bunnies! I still need to make either the little flower or the carrot (I haven't decided yet). I will warn you...it takes time and patience to crochet all those little parts and then sew them together but the end result was so worth it!

Stephanie at All About Ami has great instructions along with facial detail embroidery designs on her blog. For the free pattern, click on the photo above. If you have a Ravelry account, you can get the pattern there as well.

Mini Design Board Tutorial

If you are a quilter, you know how important it is to lay out your small pieces of fabric in order to stitch your quilt blocks. Lori of Bee in My Bonnet has a great tutorial for these design boards. I've made a few for myself a while ago and find them to be invaluable when working on my quilt blocks. Because batting is used on the board, your pieces stay where you place them ready for your sewing machine. Such a fun and practical project, you'll want to make lots of them!

My Winter Project

I'm so glad to have been working on my Pretty Posy afghan all winter. We've had such frigid temperatures and lots of snow, the colors of all the spring flowers makes it much easier to bear.

If you are interested in the crochet pattern, leave a comment with your email address and I will forward the pattern to you as a PDF file.
